Dry Type Resin Impregnated Transformers

Dry-type resin-dipped transformers differ from oil-type transformers due to their HV winding coating, made of epoxy resin under vacuum. These transformers are available in natural fan-cooled or air-cooled options, with varied power ranges and voltage levels.

Originating in the city of Vadodara, Gujarat, these transformers were designed to incorporate advanced technology and power output. Currently, they are produced with reduced environmental risks, low maintenance, and moisture resistance.

Epoxy Resin

Epoxy resin is used for fireproofing and insulating substances as a raw material component in electrical products. It does not deform after moulding and maintains its finish in dusty or humid environments. The dry stages of epoxy resin casting are called B grade, which eventually reach F and H grades with higher insulation.

Technical Specifications

  • Range 5 MVA to 15 MVA
  • Voltage Class Up to 66 KV
  • Cooling ONAN/AF
  • Tapping Off-load tap changer / On-load tap changer

Design Structure

  • Core

Made of silicon steel sheets to improve permeability and reduce eddy current loss.

  • Winding

Determined by magnetic flux density, which is inversely proportional to the winding.

  • Winding arrangement

This arrangement differentiates these transformers from other types.

  • Voltage coil

An air duct is placed between the windings to ensure inter-layer voltage stability.

  • Wire-wound structures

Cylindrical, to fit the flat copper wires, along with a foil to ensure resistance and production efficiency.

  • Short-circuit impedance

The core diameter is reduced by increasing the winding to maintain impedance.

  • No-load characteristics

The load characteristic determines the core structure of the transformer.

  • Load loss

Determined by the resistance loss in the transformer and influenced by changes in the low and high-voltage coils.

Transformer
Frequently asked questions

Yes, they are ideal for power plants, wind farms, and solar power plants. They offer high efficiency, low maintenance, and excellent thermal performance, making them perfect for environments requiring reliable power distribution and minimal environmental impact.

These transformers lower the danger of fire hazards in volatile environments, such as chemical and pharmaceutical factories, because they are self-extinguishing and flame-retardant. In humid and chemically active environments, their epoxy resin insulation ensures steady performance by preventing moisture absorption.

Transformers with strong mechanical strength and short-circuit resistance are necessary for industrial facilities and railroads. Dry-type resin-impregnated transformers are perfect for these high-demand applications because they have a high dielectric strength, can tolerate significant load changes, and require less maintenance.

Yes, these transformers are designed to perform well in extreme conditions, including high humidity, dust, and pollution. Their epoxy resin insulation ensures protection against environmental contaminants, making them highly reliable for wind farms, industrial plants, and engineering applications.
